March 17, 2020 - MU's Response to COVID-19
March 17, 2020 - At Morristown Utilities (MU), we understand that the services we provide are essential to our customers’ everyday lives. During this uncertain time, MU will be conducting business with protocols in place that ensure our customers are receiving the services they have come to rely on.
We are aware of the danger presented by COVID-19 to both our employees and customers. We continually monitor the situation and will stay in coordination with the recommendations by the TN State Health Department, Emergency Management Services, and other governmental agencies.
We may alter our business practices to a limited mode of operation in order to protect the health of our employees and customers. However, at this time, we are taking proactive measures which include:
- Providing signage to assist customers with safe health practices before entering our business offices.
- Our workforce is isolating itself between departments and conducting business through phone calls and emails.
- Workspaces and Customer Service areas are sanitized throughout the work day.
We are aware of the impact this situation can have on our customers. To assist our customers, we have temporarily suspended disconnections for non-payment and late fees. While services will not be disconnected, bills will continue to accrue. We ask customers to make payments if able. A number of alternative payment methods are available to customers.
As we are preparing in advance for what is expected, our business operations will continue to be fluid based on the circumstances in Hamblen County. We have developed and will follow a multilevel COVID-19 Protocol with a goal to ensure your services continue. Our technologies allow MU to continue business through a number of ways including email, phone, website, and drive-through. If you have questions, contact us at 586-4121.
